Carnauba wax
Carnauba palms only grow in the north-eastern regions of Brazil and are rarely cultivated. The wax on the leaves of the palm can be loosened after drying. Depending on the color of the carnauba wax, one differentiates between the qualities T1 (very light yellow), T2 and T3 (dark to brownish).

In addition to possible adulteration of the wax with paraffin or other waxes, cheap T3 medium hydrogen peroxide is regularly bleached and sold as T1. This procedure can be demonstrated by means of gas chromatography (GC fingerprint) and determination of the peroxide number.
